Information coming from sources inside the Obama transition camp indicate that President Obama plans to launch a major attack immediately after his inauguration.
The target isn't Iran. It's unborn children.
As a start, Obama has said he will immediatly cancel all of the presidential executive orders protecting life and allow the industrial breeding and destruction of human beings for embryonic stem cell use despite evidence that other stem cells not involving the industrial breeding of embryos are at least as good as if not better for medical use. Millions more humans -- science has proved incontrovertibly that life begins when egg and sperm are joined -- will die. Professor Robert George of Princeton sees an unhealthy perversity in Obama's position:
It is as if Obama is opposed to stem-cell research unless it involves killing human embryos.
As tragic as that decision will be for the sanctity of life, Obama is also preparing a massive taxpayer "bailout" of about $1 billion to reward his fervent supporters at Planned Parenthood and NARAL. But it's not only taxpayer money he wants to send their way. He intends to eliminate all of the 500 or so restrictions placed on abortion over the past 30 years by federal and state legislatures and approved by the Supreme Court. Even partial-birth abortion, which 75% of Americans oppose, would be legalized. In 2007 Obama told Planned Parenthood he wanted his first act as president to be signing the euphemismistically named "Freedom of Choice Act," which will do all of these things and more. Even edducation programs about the benefits of abstinence would be wiped out. Jeff Jacoby of the Boston Globe noted this:
Obama advocates abortion rights even more sweeping than those enacted under Roe v. Wade. "The first thing I'd do as president," he assured the Planned Parenthood Action Fund last year, "is sign the Freedom of Choice Act." The measure would not only codify Roe, it would eliminate even restrictions on abortion that the Supreme Court has allowed - the federal ban on government funding of abortion, for example, or the law prohibiting partial-birth abortion.
Planned Parenthood and NARAL are the two leading advocates in the United States of terminating the lives of the unborn. Planned Parenthood is the biggest abortion mill in the country, raking in hundreds of millions of dollars annually.
Though the media never mention it, abortion is the leading cause of death in the U.S., killing an estimated 1.2 million human beings each year. 40 million since Roe v. Wade. And Obama's action to permit the industrial breeding and destruction of human beings, reminiscent of the eugenics practiced in the 1930s, will add how many millions more to the death toll?
Abortions in the U.S. have been declining, which means Planned Parenthood, the nation's number one abortion mill, is missing out on revenue.
What better way to help Planned Parenthood than to eliminate all federal and state restrictions on abortion and provide taxpayer funding? Why, Planned Parenthood might even be able to stop handing out those $10 off discount coupons it has been circulating in minority neighborhoods.
Minorities are targeted by these abortion mills. In New York City, for example, the annual number of abortions of African-American babies (more than 500,000) is only marginally less than the babies born alive (about 600,000).
But the rabid pro-abortionists are now an industry that wants more abortion money to grow their business and to propagandize the public into agreeing with them that killing the unborn, whether naturally or industrially conceived, is really no big deal.
There is much more on the agenda. Abortionists don't want pregnancy counseling centers discussing with teens and other prospective mothers what life-saving alternatives there are, so they want them closed. They want to force doctors and hospitals, regardless of their faith or reasons of conscience, to perform abortion or be cut off from all federal programs. According to one survey, this would affect and possibly close down 615 Catholic hospitals in the U.S. and thousands of health care centers and specialized homes. Parental notification and waiting periods would go. And all taxpayers will have to pay for federally subsidized abortions, whatever their conscientious objections might be. Polls show that most Americans oppose such actions.
Obama has shown his eagerness to deliver on his pledge to Planned Parenthood and create a pro-abortion culture in America. Forget about recent Democrat position papers saying abortions should be "rare."
Catholics, Evangelicals and other people concerned with the value of every human life who voted for Obama, including no doubt many agonized and reluctant supporters of a woman's decision to terminate a life as a desperate and tragic option, certainly did not do so to create a vast expansion of abortions in America and around the world. How many knew Obama's plan to force people of conscience to perform abortions against their will at the risk of their livelihood? And to force every taxpayer to fund abortions? That is what Obama is planning to do. This is an unprecedented assault on American family values and life itself.
So the issue of life and death is to be thrust into national politics, not by conservatives, Catholics or Evangelicals, but by Obama. And it is going to happen almost immediately with the cancellation of presidential executive orders protecting life as soon as Obama becomes president.
There is strong evidence that he intends to mobilize his forces for his pro-abortion push. As we have reported earlier, Obama has already contacted the 13 million on his campaign email list and urged them to start networking now so they will be ready to descend on Congress and blitz the media as his agenda dictates.
Obama therefore is starting his administration with an all-out anti-life war which those who value every life will oppose.
The Catholic bishops in their most recent meeting in Washington made it clear they would do all they can to prevent the Freedom of Choice Act and other pro-abortion expansion measures from becoming law. Catholic teaching is clear: Abortion is a grave moral evil; one cannot be a Catholic and be pro-abortion.. All of the 40 million plus Catholics in America, including the 30% of Congress who say they are Catholic, will be morally obliged to oppose Obama's efforts to expand abortion. They will not be alone.
However, the Catholic bishops did a poor job in informing their congregations of Obama's extreme pro-abortion positions and record before the election and many Catholics voted for Obama in ignorance of that position. But if the bishops do not lead the defense of life in the face of this assault, who will?
Obama has been the most extreme supporter of abortion of any public official in America, even opposing, indeed blocking, an anti-infanticide law while an Illinois state senator. He then lied about what he had done. Tragically, not too many voters knew that before Election Day because the mainstream media did not see fit to cover the issue. Also, when asked in a widely watched television interview with Pastor Rick Warren about his views on the beginning of life and abortion, he didn't answer, hiding his views by saying such a question was "above his pay grade." So Obama, who promised to bring transparency, has not. He promised to be a uniter not a divIder, but he is triggering a moral crisis. His plan is a life and death issue and there are only two sides.
An opponent of Obama's abortion expansion plan points this out:
Go to Change.gov, the Web site of President-elect Barack Obama, and you'll find a document titled "Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration." Signed by dozens of pro-abortion groups, including Catholics for Choice, this 55-page document provides an overview of the marching orders for the Obama administration in removing all present restrictions on abortions while dramatically increasing abortion funding.A Wall Street Journal report confirms the immediacy of Obama's sweeping attack on those who support life and the defenseless unborn:
Anyone who has bought into the myth that Obama is "moderating" his positions should notice that the first section is titled "Steps for the First Hundred Days." The groups that have spent millions supporting pro-abortion members of Congress, including Obama and Vice-President elect Joe Biden, aren't in the mood to wait.
On abortion and related matters, action is expected early on executive, regulatory, budgetary and legislative fronts.
His allies know they could upset vast numbers of people with this pro-abortion offensive, so their plan is to confuse and tire the opposition by chipping away piece by piece until they accomplish their goal of taxpayer funded abortions for everyone, anytime, for any reason or no reason.
Obama has shown his callousness on life issues many times, perhaps most strikingly when he stated publicly that if his daughters made a mistake he didn't want them "punished with a baby." His most extreme anti-life action of course was singlehandedly blocking the anti-infanticide law in IllinoIs while a state senator.
With all the problems confronting the nation such as the state of the economy, Islamic terrorism and imperialism and Iran's nuclear bomb building, Obama's eager fixation on expanding abortion is both astounding and disturbing. Why provoke a moral crisis at this time? Such a fixation on death is alien to Western culture and the Judeo-Christian tradition he professes to espouse. In his devastating condemnation of Obama's extreme anti-life position, Professor Robert George of Princeton said this about one of the critical issues on the Obama agenda:
Decent people of every persuasion hold out the increasingly realistic hope of resolving the moral issue surrounding embryonic stem-cell research by developing methods to produce the exact equivalent of embryonic stem cells without using (or producing) embryos. But when a bill was introduced in the United States Senate to put a modest amount of federal money into research to develop these methods, Barack Obama was one of the few senators who opposed it. From any rational vantage point, this is unconscionable. Why would someone not wish to find a method of producing the pluripotent cells scientists want that all Americans could enthusiastically endorse? Why create and kill human embryos when there are alternatives that do not require the taking of nascent human lives? It is as if Obama is opposed to stem-cell research unless it involves killing human embryos.
It is difficult to believe but Obama seems about to begin a starkly divisive war for more abortions, abortions funded by taxpayers, abortions performed by all hospitals and doctors regardless of their beliefs or conscience, abortions without restrictions, legalizing even partial-birth abortions and the indusrial breeding and destruction of human beings. Those who support life and those who may be pro-choice but agree with counseling, notification and waiting periods surely will oppose him.
It's life or death.
